LAPS Board meeting Saturday December 5th, met at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery preceding the reception event scheduled 2 to 5 PM for artists included in the exibition "Connections; LA Printmaking 1962 to 1973". It was a unique opportunity to meet June Wayne, Paul Darrow, Lee Chesney, Tom Fricano and Dick Swift and artists Betye Saar and William Crutchfield, all special guests participating in the special anniversary exhibition and see our 20th National Print Exhibition, our most expansive and ambitious production to date and truly an event to celebrate.


The Sunday September 20th meeting preceded the opening of the exhibition “EVOLUTION AND CHANGE,” at OT Gallery in Old Town Tustin. All members are invited. Directions

 There is no entry fee to our members to submit work for the juror.

The Juror: Kim Abeles
Los Angeles Printmaking Society is honored to have as our juror Kim Abeles, a prominent interdisciplinary artist and activist whose art work focuses on issues of social justice, the environment and feminism. Her work has been exhibited in 22 countries and she has received a number of significant awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2013.
The Award:
The Los Angeles Printmaking Society is pleased to announce a Juror’s Award of $500 and an Honorable Mention of $125, will be awarded.
The Venue: The Muckenthaler Cultural Center:
The Muckenthaler Cultural Center is housed in an historic 1924 villa on eight acres of parkland in the City of Fullerton, California. Each year the Muckenthaler hosts five exhibitions and over fifty performances, festivals, and special events in art galleries, the gardens, or on an amphitheater stage.

Eligibility: Membership!
This CALL is open to all members of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society in good standing with up to date 2018 membership. 

We hope to challenge our membership to explore this theme and take this as an opportunity to push the limits of printmaking and their own artistic practice. This exhibition will include the best in both traditional and experimental techniques in contemporary printmaking, including works on paper, installation, work made in collaboration with other artists and other multi-media approaches to printmaking. As long as a printmaking technique is the primary process used to create the work for jury.*

Examples of possible eligible entries will be posted on www.LAprintmaking.com and on the LAprintmaking Facebook Group Page.

We ask that artists proposing installations or collaborative projects provide detailed instructions or be on hand to help with the installation. Accepted entries that differ from the submitted image or are unfit for display when delivered, may be excluded. 

Accepted Media:
Original works in all traditional processes including monotypes are acceptable. 
Traditional photography, offset reproductions or reproductions of art originally produced in another medium will NOT be considered. Work that incorporates other media must have a printmaking technique dominant. Examples will be posted on www.LAPrintmaking.com or by request from studiosherwood@sbcglobal.net.

Size:
No size limits, however size of all accepted work will impact amount or work being shown in exhibition. Work that does not need a wall is also encouraged. 


Framing:
Art needs to be ready to install. Frames are optional however artists must take responsibility to provide secure alternative installation and hardware.
Once jury is complete, we can work with artists needing special installation.

Limit of 3 Artworks. 3D art work may include extra images, on request.
Artwork that is a collaboration may be submitted only once and at least one artist must be a current LA Printmaking member.

Insurance and Liability:
The Muckenthaler Cultural Center will assume responsibility for all insurance coverage while the exhibition is on the premises of the Center and while Muckenthaler personnel are transporting artworks to and from MCCF’s galleries. The Muckenthaler will also be responsible for installing and de-installing the exhibition.

Sales:
Sales are encouraged but artwork need not be for sale. The Muckenthaler will keep a 40% commission on any artwork sold. Sale price on entry form must include commission and cannot be changed after acceptance. All artwork will remain in the exhibition through June 10th, 2018.

Submission to this exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to listed conditions and the use of images for publicity purposes by the Muckenthaler Cultural Center and the Los Angeles Printmaking Society. The exhibition will be posted on social media and on the website and wherever possible artist members will receive credit for artwork. We encourage our members to share the exhibition on their social media as well.

Timeline for Exhibition Dates and Deadlines:
Deadline for Jury: March 31st, 2018
Notification from Juror: April 4th, 2018
Exhibition Dates: April 19th to June 10th, 2018

Reception for Artists: April 22nd, 3:00 to 6:00PM
Earth Day Events: April 22nd, 1:00PM to 3:00PM
Gallery Tour and Artist Talk: May 10th, 1:00PM to 3:00PM

Shipping/Delivery of work:
All accepted artwork may be shipped to the Muckenthaler Cultural Center and must be shipped in a reusable shipping container and include return shipping. Local artists accepted into the exhibition may deliver packaged artwork to Los Angeles for a special pick up delivery to Fullerton. This information will be included with your acceptance notification.
